I've Heard It All Now

It seems that, following his failure to persuade the House of Commons of a need to allow the Police Force to incarcerate people for 90 days without charge, BLiar now feels that there is a "worrying gap" between a number of MPs and public opinion.

This isn't the the same BLiar who, in the face of overwhelming opposing public opinion, involved his country in a needless, illegal war a year or two ago, is it?

The cause of BLiar's welcome defeat yesterday is rather simple. He asked Parliament to trust him about the reality of a terrorist threat, and the steps needed to address it. But few MPs will have forgotten that he asked them to trust him about the reality of Saddam's vast stockpile of chemical and biological weapons three years ago; happily, an insufficient number of MPs had the necessary "worrying gap" between their ears to trust BLiar a second time.
